project updatesHistoric Resources Map: In 2002 Historical Commission members have begun to present to the Board of Supervisors for their approval an official list of the Township's historical resources. The list of resources is shown on the Township's Historic Resources Map. This Map becomes the basis of the Township's Historic Preservation Overlay District and becomes a tool for effective decision-making regarding the Township historical properties. In order to maintain an up-to-date list of the Township historical resources and in order to pursue application of historical properties for the National Historical Register, the Commission keeps files in the Township Building on each property identified on the Historic Resources Map. Other information kept includes township maps, census records, family histories and stories, as well as, other related historic materials. For a nominal fee, the findings of the Historical Commission are available to community residents. At present there are on hand the 1873, 1883, and 1934 Township maps, and a history of the village of Cedarville. In the near future there will be a history of the National Historic village of Pottstown Landing. The Historical Commission has been preserving pictures (of historic homes, village schools and classes, canal scenes, churches, etc.), historic booklets, and other historic items relating to the Township history. Anyone willing to donate such items should contact a Commission member or the Township Manager. meeting schedule |
